Conventional Development

With properties at Laprise, Boundary Lake, Crossfield/Lone Pine Creek/Irricana, Wilson Creek, Thorsby, Grand Forks, Columbia, Chinchaga, Sousa, Kaybob, O’Chiese and Valhalla, conventional development represents the largest part of TAQA North’s portfolio.  Many of these sites provide development opportunities, with Kaybob and O’Chiese offering significant potential, and TAQA North will build its inventories through ongoing land acquisitions, asset purchase and developmental results.
Coalbed Methane (CBM)
Coalbed methane (CBM) is an evolving business in Western Canada and still in its early stages of development.  The majority of TAQA’s CBM properties are in the Horseshoe Canyon Trend in southeast Alberta and all three properties (Crossfield, Thorsby and east central Alberta) have gas processing plants and extensive field infrastructure in place.
Tight Gas
Located in West Central Alberta, TAQA’s Tight Gas pools are located at Caroline, Columbia, O’Chiese and Ferrier although new wells are being brought on-stream all the time.  Tight Gas pools are characterized by high initial production rates, stabilizing to slower rates offering steady production for many years, generating long reserve life and production stability.
