TAQA is organized into three businesses: downstream, midstream and upstream. The downstream part of the business deals with power generation and water desalinisation. It provides 90 per cent of the water and electricity requirements of its home market (Abu Dhabi) and also has facilities in Ghana, India and Morocco and together it has a power capacity of 9.423 MW and 594 MIG/d of desalinated water capacity.
TAQA’s midstream operations are also spread across the world with two gas storage facilities in The Netherlands and another in Canada and a business interest in the Alliance pipeline system which runs from Canada to Chicago.
The third component of TAQA’s business is one that grew significantly during 2007 and now comprises facilities in Europe and North America. Its upstream operations encompass four fields off the western coast of The Netherlands and a presence in the UK North Sea which together comprise approximately 40 mmboe of proven plus probable reserves.
In North America, TAQA’s upstream operation is responsible for over three and a half million gross acres of which over two and a half million are as yet undeveloped and production of 86,930 boe/d.
